The skiteam Merano(o) 2000 was recently able to take a look behind the scenes at the World Cup race at Kronplatz. This experience prize was won by 30 Merano ski kids at the first edition of “SKIDS – The Snow Festival” in April 2023 – now it has finally been redeemed. I can only say: it was fantastic! The kids haven’t stopped speaking about these two days which we have spent on Kronplatz recently. We, the training community from Meran, have won an extraordinary experience prize at the “SKIDS – The Snow Festival” in April 2023: we were allowed a glance behind the scenes at the World Cup races on Kronplatz.
Already one day before the races we drove to St. Vigil, went skiing there, could watch the athletes train and see how a world cup ski slope was prepared. In the late afternoon we, a group of 30 kids, could attend the draw of the bib numbers in Bruneck. The kids could experience the athletes from up close and get some autographs and pictures. The overnight stay at the hotel all together was another highlight, as well as the World Cup race on the following day.
Ten kids could inspect the World Cup slope, while the remaining ones made themselves comfortable on the fan club stand. Together with the supporters’ club of Elisa Platino, who also comes from Meran, we rooted for the young athlete with an appropriate poster. Subsequently we hunted for autographs and pictures, could take a foto in the finish area all together and ask the winners for an autograph.
It was unique to experience such a World Cup race at close quarters. The kids were thrilled and happy about this wonderful prize, they are still talking about it. We surely take part in the second edition of the SKIDS festival and hope to win such a great experience prize again.
