Wow, what two exciting days for our 20+ kids from ASV Vinschgauer Oberland! They won the SKIDS 2024 experience prize and were able to take an exclusive look behind the scenes of the World Cup race at Kronplatz.

The time had finally come: on Monday morning, 20 January, a special training session got underway on the Furkel Pass – on a specially reserved line. But the best thing? We trained right next to World Cup stars such as Sofia Goggia, Sara Hector and other top athletes. Of course, selfies and autographs were a must.

After lunch, a 1.5-hour team session awaited us in the gym in St. Vigil. Then we went back to the hotel in Bruneck and then to the start number draw – where we got to stay at a ideal place. It was very exciting to be right where the athletes came and went. We experienced them up close.

On Tuesday morning at 8 a.m., we set off for the accreditation office – where we learned a lot about the organisation of a World Cup race and were able to put our own accreditation on. Afterwards, we made ourselves comfortable in the finish area, were allowed to visit the grandstand and took lots of photos. But what would a day of skiing be without strapping on our skis ourselves – we did a few laps between the first and second runs.

We visited the start area, drove along the course to the finish and had a great spot to watch the first and second runs live. After the second run, we caught a few athletes for a final meeting and were able to enter the finish area again. Unfortunately, the red leader’s chair had already been dismantled, which we would have loved to sit on. But the organisers had a strict schedule and we were a little late. Too bad – but the experience remains unforgettable.

Ess was sooo cool! It’s always been my dream to take part in a World Cup race! And for many kids from ASV Vinschgauer Oberland it was their first time – an incredible experience that we will never forget! Thank you, dear organising committee of the Kronplatz World Cup.’
