Ski Heil from Sölden!
The Ski Club Sarntal won a Völkl ski test with Sam Maes at the second ‘SKIDS – The Snow Festival’ 2024 – and on 3 November the time had finally come to redeem this long-awaited day. The kids and coaches from the Sarntal Valley made their way to Sölden at 5:30 in the morning, where the SKIDS organising committee, the Völkl team and, of course, World Cup athlete Sam Maes were waiting for them.
The test day started with the new Völkl skis on their feet. A small competition was the prelude, in which the children had to find out who was the true ‘king of the curves’. Would the children from Sarntal succeed in beating Sam Maes? Yes! Two youngsters from Sarntal actually managed to carve more slalom turns in the snow than the pro himself.
Sam gave the children valuable tips and patiently took time to answer all their questions.
After a hearty ‘Sarner Holbmittog’, it was time for the second round of skiing on the glacier. The day was drawing to a close faster than the participants would have liked.
A memory picture was taken with Sam Maes over lunch before an original race number of the athlete was raffled off. Enthusiastic and exhausted, the children from Sarntal made their way home after an unforgettable day.
A big thank you goes to Völkl and especially to Sam Maes, who gave the children an exciting and unforgettable day on the slopes of Sölden!
