The eight kids from the ski club Cortina could win a special adventure prize at the first edition of “SKIDS – The snow festival”, namely to be present at the FIS SKI WORLD CUP ALTA BADIA for 2 days.

“After our training in Cortina we drove to Corvara and checked in at the Movi Family Apart-Hotel Alta Badia. The kids immediately wanted to go to the swimming pool, where they could burn off their energy while sliding down the water slides or have fun in the wellness area for some hours. The hotel was perfect for the kids by offering a playroom, a kids-sauna, water slides, as well as children’s entertainment or a fantastic breakfast, everything was there which could make a kid’s heart pound. After enjoying the dinner together, we all fell in bed exhausted, already looking forward to our next day.

Immediately after breakfast our guide Roberto de Guerra picked us up and accompanied us the whole day, offering us to glimpse behind the ski World Cup scenes. We also put on the skies and went to the start where we could see some of our idols. In the bar there we wished some ski racers good luck for the first run before we then made ourselves comfortable in the finish area.

We cheered the racers and after our lunch, although before the second run, we got to know the president of the Ski World Cup Alta Badia, Andy Varallo. He informed us about everything we wanted to know, and we listened very carefully. Especially the grooming of the ski slopes was of great interest to the kids and Varallo explained it to the greatest detail. After that we fully concentrated again on the start of the racers who had qualified for the second run. A unique atmosphere could be felt at the start, it was entirely quiet. It was so cool and inimitable.

After the race the athletes were ready to give us autographs or take selfies with us. We could even take a selfie with our idol Marco Odermatt, and the kids could take a seat on the red leader chair which is normally reserved for the leading skier. Wir returned home entirely thrilled, happy and with a bag full of new impressions. The kids loved these two days which offered a unique experience to all of us. The encounter and photos with Odermatt, Vinatzer, Feller, and De Aliprandini will stick in the kids’ memories forever.

Already on our way home the kids expressed their wish to do some additional training in the parallel slalom, in order to increase the chances to again win such an adventure prize at the second edition of the “SKIDS” festival. We want to thank everybody dearly who made this priceless adventure possible and already look forward to the second edition of SKIDS in March 2024.”
