Skiclub SC Gallio also took part in the „SKIDS“ festival in March 2023 and won the first place at the parallel team event. Their prize meant to go to the FIS SKI WORLD CUP in VAL GARDENA/GRÖDEN to glimpse behind the scenes.
They were able to redeem this from 15-16 December 2023.
„We participated in the SKIDS festival in March to collect new experiences. It was our last race of the season, but as soon as we arrived, we realized that it wouldn’t just be a normal race. It was perfectly organized and much more than just a kids ski race – it was an adventure. Moreover, not the performance, but the fun stood in the foreground for the kids. Good fortune seemed to be with us because some of our athletes won in their categories and on top of that our team even won the parallel team event. Therefore, we were awarded 2 prizes: a 2-day-ski camp on Rosskopf with former World Cup athletes and 2 days in Val Gardena at the FIS SKI WORLD CUP.
After this ski camp we drove to Val Gardena/Gröden, to glimpse behind the scenes at the World Cup race. The kids were present at the draw of the bib numbers and could be next to the ten best speed skiers of the world when they chose these numbers. One of them even won the race on the next day.
We took selfies, collected autographs, and enjoyed this incredible adventure.
On the next day we carved through the snow in Val Gardena together with Manfred Mölgg and cheered on the World Cup racers on their way to the finish line.
We also visited the ticket office and media center and got enthralled with the World Cup craze.
These experiences are priceless and will stick forever in our memories. I have no words to describe all the impressions which the kids and also I as a coach could collect. I would like to thank SKIDS dearly that we could make these unforgettable experiences and cannot wait to participate again in the next edition of SKIDS – the snow festival – in March 2024.
