An unforgettable experience for Ski Club Cortina in San Vigilio di Marebbe!
Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st of January were two truly special days for nearly 30 children and young athletes from Ski Club Cortina. Thanks to the prize won during the last edition of SKIDS, our athletes had the incredible opportunity to enjoy an exclusive experience alongside the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup athletes in San Vigilio di Marebbe – Plan de Corones.
The program was intense and full of emotions: close encounters with the athletes, smiles everywhere, countless photos, and an infectious sense of happiness throughout the entire experience.
On Monday, we started at Passo Furcia, warming up with a few runs alongside the athletes’ training slopes. One of the most emotional moments was meeting Ambra Pomarè, an Italian National Team athlete who grew up right here in Ski Club Cortina.
Later on, our training truly began with a bang as we watched the start warm-up and training session of Lara Colturi from up close.
After our morning training session, it was time for lunch, followed by a very active afternoon. We completed two hours of gym training led by the fantastic Manfred Mölgg, who inspired and motivated all the kids.
In the evening, we moved to Brunico, where we collected many autographs from top athletes during the bib draw ceremony, including the amazing Federica Brignone, who had recently returned to competition after a serious injury.
After dinner at the hotel, everyone went straight to bed, completely exhausted but incredibly happy.
Tuesday was even more adrenaline-filled. We watched both race runs from a great spot near the finish area. Between the runs, the kids also had the chance to enter the finish zone and sit on the iconic red leader’s chair.
So many emotions and so many smiles! Of course, there were more autographs and plenty of photos as well.
The most exciting part for all the children and young athletes was undoubtedly meeting the athletes in person, exchanging a few words with them, and receiving an autograph.
It was an unforgettable experience that we truly hope to relive again in the future.
