Bright sunshine, perfectly groomed slopes and the sound of children’s laughter – SKIDS – The Snow Festival once again turned the Rosskopf ski area in Sterzing into a vibrant stage for international youth skiing. Now in its third edition, the event welcomed more than 700 children from several countries, all united by their love for skiing and shared experiences.

The festival kicked off on Friday morning with training runs filled with excitement and anticipation. Skis were clicked into bindings, last tips were exchanged and the course was explored. In the afternoon, one of the most emotional moments followed: the traditional parade of ski clubs through the historic town center of Sterzing. Flags, club colors and creative outfits impressed spectators and visitors alike. The Style Award by Energia Pura was won by TSV Tutzing, thanks to their custom-designed T-shirts and outstanding team spirit.

Saturday was all about competition. The SKIDS race took place on a specially designed course that went far beyond a classic giant slalom. Waves, direction changes and playful elements challenged the young athletes’ skills, courage and focus. Cheered on by parents, coaches and friends, the kids delivered impressive performances – always with a smile on their faces.

But SKIDS is more than racing. Off the slopes, a lively supporting program awaited: the Pasta Party by Felicetti in the main square, energetic High5 Games, and the popular tug-of-war competition. Victory went to Sci Club 18 from Cortina, rewarded with a special summer team day in Sterzing, including company visits and rides on the Rosskopf summer toboggan run. A special highlight was the tug-of-war featuring SKIDS ambassador Manfred Mölgg and current World Cup athlete Sam Maes.

During the festive award ceremony on Saturday evening, top performances from various nations were honored. A special prize awaits the top five finishers in each category: the two-day SKIDS Camp in December, with former World Cup athletes at the Family & Spa Resort Schneeberg and on the Rosskopf slopes.

The festival concluded on Sunday with an exciting team parallel slalom. Head-to-head duels, cheering crowds and emotional moments made for a thrilling finale. The team from Mittenwald claimed the day’s victory, while the overall club ranking went to Sci Club Cortina.

More than just a race, SKIDS – The Snow Festival is a celebration of youth, sport and dreams growing in the snow.
